Saying Farewell

This past Saturday was spent saying goodbye to most of our dear friends up here in Salt Lake.  Brendan put on a BBQ at Sugarhouse park and we played ultimate frisbee afterward (and by "we", I mean everyone else played while Kaci and I sat and watched- same diff).  We then came home to find that we were locked out of our apartment.  Drat.  I was priding myself on the fact we have not locked ourself out all year!.. only to lock ourselves out a week before we move.  Haha

After that splendid surprise, we met up with some other friends that couldn't make the BBQ at Lonestar Taqueria.  Mmmm.  If you know me at all you would know I LOVE me some Mexican food.  This place has THE best bean/queso dip and THE best chips that they make there.  YUMMM.  But it was bitter sweet knowing that we wouldn't be seeing these guys anytime soon.  We're sure going to miss these gems :((

Honeymooning

Take me back!!  This was such an amazing week, and I can't even count how many shave ice we had.  I mean, we had multiples a day.  Obsessed.  I also had bags of li hing candy, but that's not really out of the ordinary :) Hawaii is PERFECT. Brendan and I still wish we were there 8 months later haha.  Our plane trip back was probably the saddest I've ever been (jk but it was pretty traumatic).  My only consolation was the orange muffin that comes with the flight.  Those are so so delish and I've been searching for them because I can't just fly to Hawaii every time I want a muffin.  So the search will continue.

The Great Salt Lake

Earlier this year, I made Brendan take me to the Great Salt Lake because it would be kind of silly if I lived in Salt Lake and never went to the source of its namesake, right?  So we went to Antelope Island and took these pics.  It was really pretty but realllly cold.  We did see some actual antelope though!  It was kind of crazy seeing them prance around Northern Utah when I've only seen them on the Discovery Channel in Africa.  It was awesome.

The only downside of this lake?  High salt content.  So high that only things like brine shrimp can survive.  Which means that when the wind blows, and I work in downtown Salt Lake, it makes my hair smell like shrimp and salt (and not the good kind of beachy salt) for the rest of the day.   Mmm, I'm sure gonna miss that.  Sike!

Tent City

This weekend we were a part of Occupy Steorts (aka we attempted to camp in our friend's backyard, attempted a fire in a firepit, and tried free-spirited activities such as slack-lining).  We all ended up sleeping at our own houses anyway so that's that.   I just want to say that slack-lining is probably the hardest thing ever.

City Slickers

My pretty friend, Bre, came to visit me at work and we decided to take a walk around city hall and take a few pictures.  I love our city hall, it is seriously beautiful- aside from the various vagrants lounging about.  At least people from all walks of life can enjoy the city's beautiful architecture!   We ate some lunch at this cafe across the street, and I got some vegetarian soup- that was a mistake.  Apparently it is really hard to make vegetarian soup taste decent because you can't use beef or chicken stock or anything animal.  Bre said that was the hardest thing for her in culinary school haha so I've decided I will never be vegetarian.  I like flavor.  And bacon.
