Photo a Day: Bubbly
Today's word is "bubbly" and I wasn't exactly sure how to tackle this one. Everything I thought of was pretty cliche so I came up with this and I really like how it turned out! I just put the strawberry in seltzer water and watched the bubbles go crazy! It was a lot of fun and super easy. You can also put a magnifying glass in front of the lens to intensify the effect, which I think I did with this shot. Go try it out!!
I got bored and started throwing all kinds of things into the seltzer water so enjoy these "bubbly" guys :)

Photo a Day: Knowledge
New Years means something different to everyone. For some it's a fresh start from the mistakes of years gone by, for others it's just another opportunity to continue achieving their dreams. Regardless of how you feel, it's a great time to sit and reflect on your life and what you want out of life. But lets be honest, sometimes that can be a very harsh reality check. I was just thinking that I have been graduated from college for a year and a half and I still have no idea what to do with myself. A bit of post-grad depression, if you will. This New Years, I was feeling a little uninspired and a bit purposeless. Being the wonderful husband he always is, Brendan gave me a challenge to take a picture every day- based on the word he gives me each day. So, why not? I love taking pictures and I want to get better so lets do this.
The word of the day is knowledge. I just took a pic of the books I've been re-reading and I just love the Great Gatsby's cover. It's so beautiful. I love it so much that Brendan got me a t-shirt with the book cover on the front, it's fantastic.

Disneyland 2012
Shout-out to my work who pays for us to go every year! It was a good time, as usual, but even more so because it was the least crowded it has EVER been. It was awesome, we were just walking on rides for the most part because everyone was at Cars Land (which is pretty neat, btw). Disneyland to me is overdosing on Mint Juleps and cotton candy. I did just the thing and it was heavenly. Till next year!

Over the Hills!!!
So my parents went over the hill this month, and are now 50. What a bunch of oldies :) With my dad living in California, we couldn't celebrate with him as much as we'd like to. I made him a cake when he was in town a couple weeks before, but now it was my mom's turn! She loves all things French, so I just had a dinner party with our family which was semi-French Country themed. It was fun, but let me just say, I will never make a Croquembouche ever again. Hardest trial of my life. And we like to take awkward family photos, it's whatevs.

Becca's Baby Shower
Earlier this month we threw a shower for one of my good friends, Becca. It was so much fun and Alyssa's mom was freaking amazing. She pretty much threw most of the shower and she wasn't even there- skills. So many people helped and it turned out to be a super fun night! It was so fun to catch up with people I haven't seen in ages and celebrate the upcoming arrival of Becca's little girl!

Birthday Boy
This weekend we celebrated ma maaannnnnnn. Which means that this weekend was pretty low key because that's his style :). We did all of his favorite things: played a little bit of putt putt because I would be a miserable partner if we were to play real golf lol, played games with friends, hung out with family, ate some chocolate pie, hit up Mickey D's, tried a new restaurant (Yayo Taco), and ate his favorite milkshakes. It was such a great weekend! I just love him so much, he's seriously the best.

Birthday Stuff
My birthday weekend was uhhhmazing. I have the greatest people in my life and they do such a great job of letting me know that I'm loved so thank you everyone who made it extra fantastic (you know who you are). With so much family in so many different places it was hard to get everyone together so it was more of a staggered birthday celebration. We went to the Peppermill, anyone who knows me knows that's my number one. It's totally a necessary component for any birthday festivity for me (minus the part where my mother insisted the staff sing Happy Birthday and ended the song by screaming "Happy Birthday, Katie!!!!!!!!!! WoOoOoO" at the top of her lungs AT the restaurant, not at me hahaha love that lady). Then Brendan took me to lunch at Max Brenner's! Deeeeelish. Best croquettes you'll ever taste and they have popsicle fondue. Yes, popsicle fondue. We're basically obsessed.
