California Dreaming

This weekend we went to LA for the Olympic qualifying tournament finals for men's volleyball.  It was pretty awesome to watch the best of the best (eh hemm.... the US) just dominate.  Canada tried, bless their hearts, but the US won the first three games so the match was in the bag.  Go USA!

With our remaining time, we spent with my little sis who lives in Santa Monica.  We went to Diddy Reise, which has amazing ice cream sandwiches you make yourself (you pick what type of cookies and ice cream you want) and... hawaiian shave ice!  Yes, I was the one who opted for the ice :)  PLUS these are only like $1.50.  Genius.

Brendan and I also went to Venice Beach for the first time and it seemed we picked an inopportune time to experience it.  (For future notice, don't go after 6 pm).  It was slightly frightening and I'm almost positive B and I were high when we left due to the incredible amount of second hand weed smoke.  There were so many strung out and super high people mosying about, openly soliciting us for drug money.  It was pretty entertaining.  The art in this area, however, is pretty boss and there are tons of street murals and artists doing their thang so that was cool.  And per usual we hit up Newport for our beach perusing.

City Creek

One of our favorite spots in Salt Lake.  They rerouted the creek to go through the actual shopping center and they have really cool water displays.  I just wanted pictures of them because they were pretty awesome.  If you haven't been to City Creek yet and you live in Utah, you really need to because it is amazing PLUS they have a Chik-fil-A!! I already miss Chick-fil-A and their delicious chicken mini breakfast sandwiches :(  Sadly, Brendan and I only discovered this amazingness a week before we left.  Oh well, all the more reason to visit ;)

The Graduate- Part Dos

Brendan is officially a graduate now!!!! It was so nice of his family to come up to Salt Lake and support him and hang out with us.  We are truly blessed with the best families who are so supportive and loving.  Anyway, we toured the city, finished packing, hit up the Gateway Children's Discovery Museum and the park and then we moved!  Brendan is starting PT school June 1st and we can't wait :)

The Graduate

What do you call someone who finished their finals, but hasn't been to the actual graduation yet?  Are they a graduate still?  If not, then I will never be a graduate seeing as I didn't go to my college graduation haha anyway, Brendan is done with all of his undergrad classes!!  He will be graduating on Friday morning and I couldn't be prouder of him!  He is such a hard worker and is such a great student.  I'm so lucky to have him :)

To celebrate, we went back to Franck's (our Valentine's date restaurant) and it did NOT disappoint!  We LOVE this place.  It's most definitely our favorite restaurant.   They have the most interesting flavors and it's always delicious.  For example, Brendan ordered the meatloaf, and it was covered in this berry sauce and had mangoes under it (in between the meat and the potatoes) and it was AMAZING.  I always get the "taster menu" where they give you a variety of things to try.  I got: curried pork, spanish olive and apricot soup, trout with mangoes and mushrooms, and a macaroon trio.  SO GOOD.  and Brendan got the chocolate torte with sea salt and banana honey ice cream. Yummmmm.

Congrats, Brendan!!!

We are just waiting for his family to arrive and the real graduation festivities will commence!!   I can't wait!  And then it's moving day :) / :(
